The window pane bearing an image said to resemble the Virgin Mary has been moved from a Malaysian hospital to a church after attracting crowds of devotees, the hospital owner said on Tuesday.
For the past two weeks, hundreds of Catholics have gathered to pray at the Sime Darby Medical Centre just outside the capital Kuala Lumpur, describing the shape spotted on a seventh-floor window there as a miracle. Pictures of the window have gone viral on Facebook, drawing worshippers from as far away as Singapore. The throngs outside the hospital have said they could also see an adult Jesus Christ portrayed on a window two panes away from the purported image of the Virgin Mary. Two window panes from Sime Darby Medical Centre in Subang Jaya were removed this morning and given to the Catholic church, watched by leaders and parishioners of the local church in Subang Jaya. The panes were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes church in Klang and placed in a chapel behind the main church building. The move took place two weeks after sighting of an image said to be that of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Another window pane was said to bear the image of Jesus Christ. The two panes will be investigated and tested by theologians and others. Throngs of people have visited the site to view the image, with many Catholics saying prayers, reciting the rosary and singing hymns. Hundreds of appearances of the Virgin Mary have been reported over the centuries but the Catholic church has recognised only a handful as being worthy of devotion. Our Lady of Lourdes church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary in honour of the Marian apparitions at Lourdes, France, in 1858; Lourdes is now a pilgrimage centre that receives thousands of visitors every year for the water at the grotto which is believed to have healing properties. The windows are being venerated at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church. The address is No. 114, Jalan Tengku Kelana, 41000, Klang, Selangor, 41000, Malaysia.
